Designer George W. McVay

George W. McVay Sr., was a designer of several boats at Paceship Yachts Ltd. of Mahone Bay, NS. Bob McVay.told us his father was manager of Paceship Yachts between 1961 to 1965 and during this time designed the following boats for Paceship:
  • Pee Wee
  • Oakisland 12 (P-12)
  • Peregrine 16  P-16
  • Falcon 16
  • Venus (15ft.speed cruiser.)
  • Mouette 20   (P-19)
  • Cruisette (McVay 20)
  • East Wind 24
  • Arcadian (Yawl & Sloop)

In additon to working as a designer G. William McVay for Paceship Yachts in Mahone Bay NS in the 60's, he also is credited with bringing back to life (via fiberglass reproductions) the beautiful  Bluenose originally designed by W. J. Roue in Halifax, NS.  McVay is also responsible for the design and production of the Minuet.

Apparently McVay felt the original Acadian design developed for Paceship in the late 60's deserved further exploitation and so the Victoria line of sailboats was born. These boats were  manufactured until the 80's in Florida.
