Falcon 16 Photos

A great shot of Mark and Donna Daggett's 1962 version of the Falcon 16 the "Platypus".  The Daggetts sail in sometimes blustery conditions as you see from the photo around Lower Coverdale, NB, CA.

Melanie & Wayne Briand of Halifax, Nova Scotia came forward with this very first Falcon 16 we have seen!  She is a 1962 version hull number 62!

The boat has a metal plate attached on the inside of the stern that has  Falcon written in the model space, #29 in the serial number space, and Industrial Shipping as the manufacturer.  When we purchased the boat we didn't have any idea what model it was.  Years ago we had a P17 and wanted  to get another Paceship for our kids.  It was advertised as a Paceship and  it had the Paceship insignia on it. The sail has KC 29 along with the Paceship symbol.

When we got it home and had a look on your website, we couldn't find any models that match its appearance.  Our thoughts were  that we may have found a classic of some sort.  We spent four solid days cleaning her up.  The wood trim around the cockpit and wooden seats were black and after two days of sanding beautiful mahogany appeared.

We have no idea how many people have owned this boat, but a previous owner had it wired with running lights, a battery run stereo system and a depth finder for fishing.  We pulled all the junk off, scrubbed her down, sanded the wood and varnished it.  The wood was absolutely black, and looks great now.

The sails were gray and rust stained, so I spread them out on the lawn and sprayed diluted lemon juice all over.  The sun and lemon juice cleaned the sails up beautifully.  The lemon juice is an old trick of my mother's.  We have had more people stop to talk about the boat.

Rob Dunphy's Falcon P16

I live in Antigonish N.S. and have a Falcon 16 which my father purchased in 1964.I think he paid about $1500.00 for it.It has p-16 in the model space and104 in the serial # space. The sail has KC 104 inscribed on it.Part of the numbering has been lost as my dad had the mainsail made smaller and the boom raised. He found the boom too low and could hit you in the head with wind changes.I have the original specs of the boat ,but have misplaced them. I will forward them to you as soon as I find them.
