Owner
Bill Wallace writes: We have owned a Paceship since 1993.
Ours is a 1974 PY23- hull # 318, built in Mahone Bay NS.
The previous owner was David Chale. The boat has never
been named. We sail on Lake of the Woods, (In my opinion,
the best inland waterway in North America). We keep the
boat in Sioux Narrows and like to cruise to different
areas of the lake during the summer. Our Paceship has
a retractable keel which allows us to beach it in one
of the many sandy beaches. My wife and I are both
former school teachers as well as being professional musicians. |

Sean
Hunt a transplanted Irishman
who lives in Jeddah, Hijaz, Saudi Arabia with his 1977
PY23. Sean tells us there are very few sailboats in the
area and his PY23 gets a lot of attention in the neighborhood
when he goes sailing! Sean is our first member on the
Owners Directory out of North America! |

owner, since 1992 writes:
Our Paceship is used by
a family of four as a day sailor, with a few over
night stays & a little informal club racing.
We primarily sail in fresh water on, Lakes Couchiching
& Simcoe, out of the Champlain Yacht Club, N 44 36

Here
are pictures of our boat Paceship PY 23 . We bought
it in September 2001. It is kept in the La Salle Marina,
in Burlington, ON, Canada. Following frantic restoration
in May 2002 we were able to launch our boat in early June.
It was renamed to "Happy Thoughts".

Exterior
underwent extensive renovations including replacing large
areas of rotten balsa core, laminating new skin, and painting
deck with one part polyurethane. I have also added some
hardware, i.e. added Harken 16 self-tailing winches (very
expensive but they are great) and exchanged the other
(blocks etc.) . |
 |
 |
I
have also lead all sheets and halyards to the cockpit,
installed new engine bracket, fabricated new ruder, refinished
teak with exception of companionway hatch, to mention
a few major items. The interior is still a mess, I plan
to re-wire it install large water tank at the bow to balance
boat better, and panel interior with red cedar planks".

Check out Ken Well's

area in Maple Bay. Maybe some of you "Nawthen"
Paceship owners can catch up with him there! |
An interior shot of Ken
Well's boat showing the galley set up. The left
portion of the countertop sports a very large under counter
icebox accessible through the lift up cover. |

I
just purchased a 78 PY23K. This is my first boat and so
far we love it! The inside is in beautiful shape with
new cushions. I will be doing some additional modifications
over the winter which include some added teak accessories,
a new table and counter tops and new
electrical wiring and updated lighting. |

boat for cruising the Bay." |
