Rather than install outboard motor in through the lazerette, which I always found to be a pain, I mounted an outboard bracket on the stern and hung the motor there. Works great, easy to install in the spring and take off in the fall. The big advantage of course, you keep the bottom end of the motor out of the salt water except when motoring.
I had my boat painted with a system called "algripped" several years ago. The original hull colour was green but really faded - when I first saw my boat after the paint job, really, I couldn't believe it was my boat."
